People buy the iPhone Air because it is so thin and light. Then many of them put it in a thick case and it ends up feeling like any other phone. A good iPhone Air case adds as little as possible: enough to protect the edges and the camera, a magnet ring if you use MagSafe, and nothing else. What matters in an iPhone Air case
1. How much thickness you are willing to add
Every case adds some thickness. You are choosing how much, and what you get for it. There are three broad options:
- Bumper frames cover only the edges and the camera area and leave the back open. They are the lightest option and keep the phone's design on show, but the back glass stays exposed.
- Slim shells cover the back with a thin hard layer. They protect against scratches and everyday knocks while adding very little to the phone.
- Feature cases add something on top, such as a kickstand, a leather finish or a ring. They are a bit thicker, but you get something useful for it.
If thinness is the reason you chose the Air, start with a bumper or a slim shell. If you watch a lot of video or want a more premium feel, a feature case is worth the extra millimeters.
2. MagSafe, or just wireless charging
A plain case puts distance and material between your iPhone and a MagSafe charger, wallet or car mount, so the magnetic hold gets weaker. A MagSafe case has its own magnet ring built into the back to solve that. If you use magnetic accessories, choose a case that says MagSafe in its name. 3. Raised edges around the screen and camera
On a thin phone, it is easy to forget the two surfaces that touch the table: the display and the camera. Look for a lip that sits slightly above the screen and a raised frame or bezel around the camera. Then the phone rests on the case, not on the glass, when you put it down.
4. Picking the right size on the product page
Many of our cases come in several iPhone sizes, and the page title often names the biggest one. Always choose your model in the Model selector before adding to cart.
